UN Probes Reports of Killings and Torture
Following a decisive vote, the UN Human Rights Council approved the deployment of an independent fact-finding mission to examine mounting evidence of atrocities committed during recent battles for control of El Fasher. Preliminary assessments referenced by council members describe the discovery of multiple bodies showing signs of torture, bound limbs, and execution-style killings. Rights experts warn that the nature of the violence may constitute war crimes or crimes against humanity.
Tens of Thousands Displaced or Missing
